Thursday 9th of November 2017 09:22
The American University of Sharjah is bringing 'Relay for Life' to UAE in partnership with Friends of Cancer Patients and the American Cancer Society. Relay for Life is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track for 24 hours. Each team has to have one of their team members on the track at all times; switching with another team member when they get tired. Relay for Life is a global initiative and is the largest fundraising event for cancer in the world. Celebrated by more than 4 million people in over 20 countries, the event seeks to empower and unite local communities to fight cancer. In the UAE, Relay for Life is organized by Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP), a non-profit Society, founded in 1999 under the directives and patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah-UAE. The event will be hosted at AUS, where a “Relay Village” will be set up, providing a place where participants can camp. Participants can also access entertainment and refreshments from their respective 'camps'. For more information on the event. Check out our calendar
