The American University in the Emirates has announced that it will offer 100 full scholarships to students in the year 2018-2019. The scholarships amount to a value of 100 million Dirhams and are for outstanding high school graduates wishing to enroll in undergraduate programs. This initiative is in line with the Year of Zayed (2018), a UAE government initiative that, together with the private sector, is launching several programmes inspired by the legacy and values of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s founding father. This year 2018 marks 100 years since the birth of Shaikh Zayed, therefore 100 scholarships are handed.
During the press conference held by the University at its headquarters, the AUE President Professor, Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq said that the scholarship chances will first be given to the wives and children of martyrs, and secondly be in favor of prisoners in penal institutions where they are able to access educational resources and use these to the fullest, to better their lives. He also noted that special grants will be given to athletes from around the world.
In order to qualify for the full scholarship, applicants are required to have at least a 90% score in their high school and a passing English language score.
An important consideration for students who want to keep the full scholarship throughout their studies is a CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of around 3.6 for undergraduate and masters programmes.
The scholarships are open to students of all nationalities, based in UAE or abroad, as long as they meet the requirements.
AUE, which established in 2006, has colleges of Media and Mass Communication; Business Administration; Law; Fine Arts and Design; Computer Information Technology; and Education.
